A kingdom in southeastern Thedas, it was conquered by Orlais a century ago, when King Darlan ruled, but was freed through the efforts of King Maric Theirin, grandson of King Brandel. Maric's bastard son, King Alistair Theirin, is the current monarch.

A collective of city-states situated in eastern Thedas, south of Antiva and the Tevinter Imperium, east of Nevarra, and north of Ferelden.

The most prominent cities within the Free Marches are Kirkwall, Starkhaven and Tantervale, each having a leader with a title and having the special right to name a Champion of the city.

Founded by Emperor Kordillus Drakon, the Orlesian Empire or simply Orlais is one of the most powerful nations in Thedas. Val Royeaux is the capital of Orlais, as well as the Chantry's seat of power and home to the Divine.

Nevarra is a nation in central Thedas, west of the Free Marches, south of the Tevinter Imperium and north-east of Orlais.

It was originally one of the larger Free Marches city states, but has aggressively expanded over the last two centuries to become a power to rival Orlais.

The Tevinter Imperium is a nation in Thedas ruled by a powerful magocracy. The leaders of the Imperium are called magisters, and are led by the Imperial Archon. It is now only a shadow of its former self in both size and power.

The Deep Roads are an extensive network of underground roads that once belonged to the dwarven kingdom. Many Thedeosians thought these roads lost to time, but a large number of them still exist. The dwarves closed the Deep Roads off when they fell to the darkspawn during the First Blight.

There are entrances into the Roads, most prominent are at the dwarven cities of Orzammar, Kal-Sharok and Kal'Hirol.
